Horse Lovers Park

PHOENIX, AZ
Spurred on for generations to come

For more than 30 years, Arizona Horse Lovers Park has been a treasured desert/urban park where modern-day cowboys, horse enthusiasts and kids of all ages could come together to share their love for these magnificent animals. Today, the park is a favorite place for Valley of the Sun residents to saddle up their horses and ride on the equestrian and multi-purpose trails and in arenas for riding, roping and cutting.

Now the Friends of Horse Lovers Park, a non-profit fundraising group, is spurring on a capital campaign initiative with a master plan to modernize the existing facilities, expand on all the park has to offer and maintain its viability for future generations.

MISSION & VISION

The Friends of Horse Lovers Park

Has a Big Capital Campaign Mission.

CAMPAIGN MISSION

Make Arizona Horse Lovers Park economically sustainable for generations to come through the generous support of a combination of public and private resources to replace aging infrastructure, broaden park programs and leverage the park’s unique location by expanding on the multi-use nature of the park and capitalizing on the revenue-generating opportunities that come with a world-class equestrian park and hospitality venue.

CAMPAIGN VISION

The Friends of Horse Lovers Park has incorporated the vision of the surrounding community, businesses and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation to develop the master plan. We’re focused on continuing to support intergenerational social interaction by offering groups such as Special Olympics, 4H, ASU and Horse Tales Literacy program a place to hold events. But we plan to expand on other opportunities for a western-themed event venue.

ALL IT TAKES IS FUNDING.

To help finance expansion plans, LCS-Westminster partnership, the joint-venture owner of adjacent Sagewood Senior Living community, has agreed to provide $2.5 million in funding to enhance the park over the next five years. But we also need your support.

NEW COVERED ARENA

Equestrian Events Take Center Stage

with Construction of a New Covered Arena.

So Many Event Options. Arizona Horse Lovers Park’s new covered arena will suit the broadest possible range of spectator-oriented, large-floor exhibition events, including horse events, rodeo events, livestock auctions, trade shows and consumer shows.

So Many Uses. The well-functioning building is designed to provide a modern standard of amenities and services, while at the same time, minimizing operating costs to assist in the maintenance of a reasonable operating budget and debt servicing. The new arena also will serve as an efficient community multi-purpose center, providing services for adult and youth sports use with reasonable efficiency, given the priority of programmed uses for special events.

Smart Added Space. Outside the new arena, the design plan also includes new RV hookups to support visitors for multi-day events, plus a full lot of additional spectator parking spaces.

NEW EVENT CENTER BARN

A New Events Center Barn and Outdoor

Hospitality Areas Add Entertaining Options.

HOSPITALITY INSIDE AND OUT

The master plan incorporates a new 100'x50' event center barn with 64 parking spaces and a front event lawn that may be used for large group gatherings—inside and out, from weddings and sales meetings to trade shows and other events. An adjacent new public garden and amphitheater may also be reserved for private use.

A UNIQUE LOCATION

The location of Arizona Horse Lovers Park on North Tatum Boulevard net to Loop 101 is quite simply ideal for a new hospitality venue and entertaining spaces for catered events. Wedding and event planners will be delighted to find this western-themed venue is within 20 miles of downtown Phoenix and the airport, plus convenient to so many full-service resort/convention hotels, including 2,400 rooms within 5 miles, 6,200 rooms within 10 miles and approximately 14,000 rooms city-wide.

FLEXIBLE OPTIONS

The new park layout offers maximum flexibility for virtually any size event. The barn, lawn and park/amphitheater may be closed off for smaller private events or opened up to Arizona Horse Lovers Park grounds for larger groups when additional parking is needed.
